Initial Setup - FiveM

Step 1

Once you have purchased your FiveM VPS Windows you will have to access through RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) to your VPS. The VPS and Panel access data will be sent to the same email with which you purchased the service. To learn how to connect using RDP check this article.

When you access your VPS you will see these programs and folders on the desktop.
HeidiSQL: This is a SQL client like phpMyAdmin for your MySQL databases.
XAMPP: It is a program that in this case is configured to host the databases and an FTP server to be able to manage your files remotely.
Visual Studio Code: It is a code editor that will help you to edit the files of your FiveM server in an easier way.
SERVER folder: This folder will host your server and the FiveM artifacts you need. This folder is already configured to be shared by FTP. ⚠ DO NOT DELETE IT

Step 2

In the VPS you will have to go to https://runtime.fivem.net/artifacts/fivem/build_server_windows/master/ (opens in a new tab) to download the FiveM artifact that you are going to use for your server. You can use the Edge browser that comes preinstalled.

Then move the downloaded file to the SERVER folder inside a new folder that you can call artifact. Then we unzip the file.

Step 4

After extracting the downloaded file, we run the FXServer.exe file.

When running the FiveM Server, a console will open showing the PIN to be used in txAdmin (in this case the PIN is 9543):

Now on your PC you can go to the txAdmin of your server. The URL is http://<IP of the VPS>:40120, you can see it in the FiveM console. You can also access the txAdmin from the VPS if you don't want to do it from your PC.

In the txAdmin simply enter the code shown in the FiveM console and click on Link Account.

Step 6

If you are not logged in to Cfx.re you will be redirected to login.

If you are already logged in, simply authorize your account and go to the next step.

Step 7

After authorizing your account, txAdmin will ask you to generate a password.

Step 8

Now you must configure your server, you must choose your Server Name and the type of deployment. If you don't have a server already set up we recommend you to choose "Popular Recipes".

In the Template you can choose from the options that say FiveM. CFX Default will download a base template, ESX Legacy is a Roleplay template as well as QBCore with some differences, we recommend you to investigate all 3 templates. If you are not sure, you can change the template later if you don't like it.

Step 9

After completing the template configuration, the Recipe configuration follows. Simply click Next in step 1.

Step 10

Then you will need to place your Cfx.re License Key.

To do this go to https://keymaster.fivem.net/ (opens in a new tab) log in and click on New server.

Step 11

Now you must fill in the requested data. In server IP you must put the IP of your VPS, in Server type choose VPS and then under it put FiveM, finally complete the captcha and click on Generate.

Step 12

You will then see a green message indicating that it was successfully sent. Now you must copy the key and paste it into your txAdmin.
