Adding World Modifiers to Your Valheim Server
World modifiers allow you to customize different options to increase or decrease how challenging you want your server to be. There are several different modifiers available, such as combat difficulty, resource gains, and raid frequency.
Step 1: Access the Startup Settings
Head to your Game Panel and access your Valheim server. Make sure your server is offline before making changes, as startup arguments need to be set before the server starts.
To the left of the panel, click on Startup to access the startup configuration settings.

Step 2: Configure World Modifiers
In the Startup section, locate the Custom World Modifiers field. This is where you'll add your world modifier settings.

Important Notes:
- Make sure to include the dash (
-) before each world modifier - Servers read startup arguments in order as written
- We recommend setting a preset first (if you want to use one), then individual modifier settings after
- Setting a preset will overwrite previously set modifiers
Format Examples:
For presets:
-preset <value>Example: -preset hard
For modifiers:
-modifier <modifier> <value>Example: -modifier combat easy
For keys/toggles:
-setkey <value>Example: -setkey passivemobs

Step 3: Save and Start Your Server
Once you've added your desired world modifiers, hit enter on your keyboard to automatically save the changes.
You can now Start your server and the new world modifiers will be applied!
