How to change the modding framework
VexyHost supports three modding frameworks for Rust: Carbon, Oxide, and Vanilla (no mods). Switching frameworks requires changing the startup variable and reinstalling the server.
Create a backup before reinstalling. Some files may be modified or deleted during the process.
Step 1
Access your Game Panel and navigate to your Rust server. Go to the Startup section in the left sidebar.
Step 2
Locate the MODDING FRAMEWORK dropdown and select your desired framework: carbon, oxide, or vanilla.
Step 3
Go to the Settings section in the left sidebar. Under REINSTALL SERVER, click the Reinstall Server button.
Step 4
A confirmation dialog will appear. Make sure DELETE ALL SERVER FILES is disabled to keep your existing server data, then click Yes, Reinstall server.
Step 5
Wait for the reinstallation to complete. The server will stop during this process and restart automatically once done.
After switching to Oxide, you can install plugins by going to the Rust Plugins section in the left sidebar.
